Umbane he leads the nation

Umbane he leads the nation

Struggle songs and branded suit

His friends get juicy tenders

People stay destitute

He always blames apartheid

Loves the song that hates the whites

When ESKOM say it’s load shedding

Our country becomes dark as night

His friends all fear the IDF

Trade money for a legal plan

He shouts about a genocide

To try to make him win again

Now we’re fighting in the Congo

But only 2 planes fly

There’s nothing there to make us fight

It makes me wonder why

It’s not right Umbane

What you do Umbane

You know you can help us all

It’s not right Umbane

Make a change Umbane

Before our rainbow nation falls

Are you blind Umbane?

Can’t you see Umbane?

Can’t you see the fires near the slums?

Can’t you hear Umbane?

Can’t you feel Umbane?

Feel the sorrow for the suffering ones

The comrades have all the good jobs

They cannot do but they can say

After 30 years they still must blame

Apartheid for the world today

There is no money for the fixing

No word for maintenance

Everything just goes downhill

While they live in extravagance

Even the elders shake their heads now

Youth are tired and they cry

You say “down with capitalism!”

Then jet to Davos in July

Taking land no compensation

But your game farm is safe for now

The village waits for food and water

The comrades sip Johnny Walker

He keeps them wild and angry

“It’s the whites who stole it all"

But thirty years and trillions later

He’s still repainting the same wall
